LO: to research music video terminology & choose case studies.

  • Narrative - The lyrics are often reflected wishing the story (tells a story).
  • Performance - Performance based music video shows the artist/band performing, although they do not have to move or dance.
  • Performance montage - is where the people are still performing but in lots of different locations.
  • Concept - Rather than featuring the band performing the song, it is presented as a visual narrative (often no link between the visuals and the song), example - sound waves.
  • Narrative (illustration) - video matches the lyrics of song.
  • Narrative (amplification) - These type of music videos may use both  performance and narrative, with connotations of the meaning of the lyrics.
  • Narrative (disjuncture) - These videos intentionally ignore the content of the song and genre of the music and tries to create a whole new set of meanings (performance doesn't match the lyrics).

What will you do: New video for the song.We will walk/dance around the school in a positive way. We will also lip-sync parts of the song.
